Normal Testosterone Levels on Plant-Based Diets

Men who eat plant-based diets have just as much testosterone as men who eat diets high in animal products, according to a study published in the World Journal of Urology. University of Miami researchers investigated the issue, arriving at a conclusion that flies in the face of a commonly held belief about nutrition science.

The research team looked at data on diet and hormones in 191 30-60-year old men, finding no connection between plant-based content in the diet and blood levels of testosterone. While many people believe that animal foods like meat are linked to higher testosterone levels, no such relationship was found.

These findings confirm James Wilks’ assertion in The Game Changers film that, “Studies comparing men who eat animal foods with men who don’t have consistently demonstrated no difference in testosterone levels.” Accordingly, the authors conclude, “it will be reassuring to patients to know that committing to a plant-based will not negatively impact their testosterone levels and physicians can confidently counsel them on this effect.”
